Process Guide

How to de-bond OCA/laminating adhesive without damaging the AF coating?

The key is the solvent route plus wetting design: an aromatic-alcohol penetrant system with non-ionic wetting components speeds interfacial spreading and penetration while protecting the AF coating throughout (L715 / L716).

1Why generic de-bonding agents threaten AF coatings

The AF (anti-fingerprint) coating is a functional film sensitive to strong alkali, strong solvents and mechanical abrasion. Generic de-bonding chemistry optimises speed and overlooks AF attack, showing up as reduced hydrophobicity and fingerprints after rework — damage that cannot be reworked back.

2Formulation approach for AF protection

L715 / L716 target laminating-adhesive removal on phone cover glass (rework/disassembly) with an aromatic-alcohol penetrant system plus non-ionic wetting components: the penetrant swells and breaks the adhesive while the wetting agent lowers surface tension and speeds spreading, avoiding prolonged local high concentration and mechanical force.

3Process and selection

Select by adhesive type (acrylic PSA covers both blue-tape and UV-tape films with one grade). Use AF appearance and contact angle as acceptance criteria, not just de-bonding time, and pilot-test against your AF process. L716 in the same family offers an alternative grade.
