BLG-PS023
BLG-PS023 Anti-Static Agent for Sandblasting
Abrasive-additive anti-static agent: added directly to the blasting abrasive, 0.5–1.0% markedly reduces friction-generated static, suppressing dust adsorption and abrasive agglomeration without affecting the blast finish.
Technical Description
BLG-PS023 is an anti-static treatment agent from SEMPURION for sandblasting, used by adding it to the blasting abrasive (media). By lowering the friction coefficient between abrasive and workpiece it reduces static generation at source, while suppressing dust fly-off and abrasive agglomeration for a better working environment and cleaner workpiece surfaces.
During blasting, high-speed abrasive rubs hard against the workpiece and generates heavy static charge: dust is electrostatically adsorbed onto the workpiece and hard to remove, abrasive clumps together, and airborne dust concentration rises. BLG-PS023 is a friction-reducing (prevention-type) anti-static agent — unlike hygroscopic-conductive types, it does not dissipate charge already generated but reduces its generation itself: a lubricating adsorption layer forms on the abrasive particles, lowering the friction coefficient against the workpiece so friction charging drops markedly; the workpiece carries no static, so dust is no longer tightly adsorbed and is easily removed; and abrasive agglomeration and caking are reduced for uniform blasting. Anti-static technology has two routes — friction-reducing (prevention) for friction conditions such as abrasives, sandpaper and conveyor belts, and hygroscopic-conductive (dissipation) for hard-surface cleaning steps on glass and plastics. BLG-PS023 belongs to the former.
It is used at a very low dose (0.5–1.0% by abrasive weight) added directly to the media, requiring no new equipment or process step and no extra rinsing or drying, with no effect on the blast finish. The product is low-odour, non-flammable and free of halogens and heavy metals. Run a small trial first to confirm no effect on blast roughness, matte uniformity or media circulation; where downstream anodising, painting or bonding follows, verify compatibility first.
How it works
This is a friction-reducing (prevention-type) anti-static agent: unlike hygroscopic-conductive types, it does not dissipate charge already generated — it reduces charge generation itself.
① Lower friction
A lubricating adsorption layer forms on abrasive particles, lowering the friction coefficient against the workpiece so friction charging drops markedly
② Less dust adsorption
The workpiece carries no static, so dust is no longer tightly adsorbed and is easy to remove
③ Better media flow
Reduces abrasive agglomeration and caking for uniform blasting
Anti-static technology follows two routes: friction-reducing (prevention) and hygroscopic-conductive (dissipation). The former suits friction conditions such as abrasives, sandpaper and conveyor belts; the latter suits hard-surface cleaning steps on glass and plastics. BLG-PS023 follows the friction-reducing (prevention) route.

How to use
Abrasive (media) → [add BLG-PS023 and mix] → blasting → workpiece post-treatment
| Where to add | Added directly to the blasting abrasive |
| Recommended dose | 0.5 – 1.0% by media weight (adjust to working conditions) |
| Dry blasting | Drip slowly into the circulating/tumbling abrasive so it disperses evenly; avoid pouring in bulk, which cakes locally |
| Wet / liquid blasting | Stir directly into the slurry water |
| Replenishment | Top up proportionally as media is consumed to maintain the effective level |
| Downstream | No extra rinsing or drying — follow the line's normal flow |
Run a small trial first — confirm no effect on blast roughness, appearance or media circulation
Where anodising, painting or bonding follows, verify compatibility first
In dry blasting, control the dosing rate to ensure even mixing and avoid caking
Cautions & Safety
| ⚠️ Process validation | Run a trial blast first to confirm no effect on the finish (roughness, matte uniformity) |
| ⚠️ Process compatibility | If downstream anodising, painting or bonding follows, verify compatibility first |
| 🟡 Personal protection | Wear protective gloves and goggles; avoid skin and eye contact |
| 🟡 Eye contact | Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention |

Introduction
BLG-PS023 Anti-Static Agent for Sandblasting (BLG-PS023) is developed by SEMPURION for Sandblasting (matte texturing / roughening) of metal frames and structural parts; dry or wet blasting where static and dust must be controlled as a Cleaning / De-waxing product.Key advantage: Abrasive-additive anti-static agent: added directly to the blasting abrasive, 0.5–1.0% markedly reduces friction-generated static, suppressing dust adsorption and abrasive agglomeration without affecting the blast finish.. Benchmarked against Industry-standard anti-static treatment for blasting (friction-reducing / prevention type). Key features: Friction-reducing (prevention-type) anti-static: a lubricating adsorption layer forms on abrasive particles, lowering the friction coefficient against the workpiece to cut static generation at source; workpieces carry no static, so dust is no longer tightly adsorbed and is easy to remove; reduces abrasive agglomeration and caking for uniform blasting; an extremely low dose of 0.5–1.0% by abrasive weight already markedly reduces friction charging; added straight to the abrasive with no new equipment or process step and no rinsing or drying; low odour, non-flammable, halogen- and heavy-metal-free. Typical process: Flow: abrasive (media) → add BLG-PS023 and mix → blasting → post-treatment. Add directly to the blasting abrasive at 0.5–1.0% by media weight (adjust to working conditions). For dry blasting, drip slowly into the circulating/tumbling abrasive so it disperses evenly and avoid pouring in bulk, which cakes locally; for wet/liquid blasting, stir into the slurry water. Top up proportionally as media is consumed to maintain the effective level. No extra rinsing or drying is required. Run a small trial first to confirm no effect on blast roughness, appearance or media circulation; if downstream anodising, painting or bonding follows, verify compatibility first..
