Can a vacuum-deposited chrome coating (mirror-silver finish) be stripped off glass without strong acid or hydrofluoric acid?

Yes. For vacuum-deposited chrome coatings (mirror-silver finish) on glass, J360 uses an ambient-temperature eco-friendly acidic route free of hydrofluoric acid and potassium ferricyanide, stripping in 2–5 min by ambient immersion or spray, replacing traditional strong-acid systems that usually need heating.

1The cost of the traditional route

A vacuum-deposited chrome coating on glass (mirror-silver finish) is dense and chemically inert, so ordinary pickling struggles. Traditional strippers rely on strong-acid corrosion and usually need heating, bringing high handling hazard, energy use and waste-treatment burden.

2J360 / J360A route and parameters

J360: eco-friendly acidic system, ambient temperature (no heating), 2–5 min in typical conditions, ambient immersion or spray, free of HF and potassium ferricyanide. J360A is the same chemistry at lower concentration for high-volume lines where chemical consumption matters.

3Before production

Suited to vacuum-deposited chrome coatings on glass (mirror-silver finish, rework/stripping); compatibility-check other substrates first. Calibrate cycle time for your conditions and run a pilot batch. The system is still acidic: apply acid-safe protection and neutralise waste before compliant disposal.
