Technical Description

DW-Ni1 is a mild, formulated acid-etch stripper that removes PVD nickel and nickel-oxide (NiO) coatings from glass without attacking the glass or the screen-printed ink. It is not a bare acid product, and toughened glass tolerates the brief acid contact involved. Within its validated envelope (NiO ≤0.18 µm) room-temperature immersion strips in about 5 minutes; thicker layers are handled by heating to 40–50°C or extending immersion to 15–30 minutes per the process card.

Introduction

DW-Ni1 Nickel Stripper for Glass (DW-Ni1) is developed by SEMPURION for Stripping of PVD nickel/nickel-oxide (NiO) coatings from glass surfaces, including parts with screen-printed ink as a De-inking / Stripping product.Key advantage: Removes nickel coatings from glass without damaging the glass or the ink — mild acid-etch system.. Benchmarked against Industry-standard glass nickel-stripping solutions (mild acid etch). Key features: Mild formulated acid-etch system (not a bare acid product); toughened glass withstands brief acid contact. Typical process: Finalized system: room-temperature immersion strips in ~5 min; validated envelope NiO ≤0.18 µm (~5 min at room temperature); thicker layers per the upgraded process card — heat to 40–50°C or extend immersion to 15–30 min.
