Technical Description

PI-C1 is an alignment-layer cleaner from Shengpu Chemical for LCD glass substrates before polyimide coating. Benchmarked against Nippon Kayaku/Parker PI process cleaners, it respects the PI red line: strong-alkaline or strong-solvent cleaners hydrolyze and swell-damage cured alignment films, so this formulation cleans without attacking the layer. Low residue and tight ionic-residue control protect downstream PI adhesion and coating uniformity — and thus display defect rates — with pre-coating ultrasonic cleaning at 40°C and a rework mode for uncured PI pre-bake films.

Introduction

PI-C1 Alignment-Layer (PI) Cleaner (PI-C1) is developed by SEMPURION for LCD glass substrates (pre-PI-coating) as a Cleaning / Developing product.Key advantage: Substrate cleaning before polyimide coating; respects the PI red line — no hydrolysis or swelling damage to cured alignment layers.. Benchmarked against Nippon Kayaku / Parker PI process cleaners. Key features: Honors the PI red line — strong-alkaline or strong-solvent cleaners hydrolyze and swell-damage cured alignment layers; does not attack the film; ionic-residue control directly affects display defect rate; low residue protects downstream PI adhesion and coating uniformity. Typical process: Pre-PI coating: ultrasonic cleaning at 40°C for 5–10 min, pure-water rinse, dust-free drying. Rework: removes uncured PI pre-bake films (weak alkali with co-solvent swells and lifts them).
